Now I See
I quickly flipped through an old magazine and ripped out a page of a random article. This poem was created from the words found on the front and back of that page.
WITH A CANDLE LIT AND CHILL INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC PLAYING, I EXPLORED AND MEDITATED ON THE WORDS THAT JUMPED OUT TO ME.
CLIP CLIP, I MINDFULLY CUT THEM OUT, PLACING THEM ON THE PAGE, ON THE TABLE BESIDE MY VISION BOOK, BEGINNING TO FORM PHRASES AND SENTENCES, IDEA’S.
AFTER ABOUT 6 HOURS, IT SEEMED TO HAVE COME TOGETHER.
When I looked at the clock, I couldn’t believe how much time had passed. The act of searching for the words, and taking the time to carefully cut them out, put them together, rearrange them, rework them, then paste them to the page in such a way, turned out to be a beautiful moment of contemplation.
With patience and breathe, I did the work and kept moving forward. And as each minute passed the poem revealed itself to me as I was ready to see it. Like the way life does.
LIFE’S QUITE A LOT LIKE A CUT-OUT POEM.
It was always all right there in front of you, everything you were looking for. But you had to take the time to explore what you saw. Examine your experience. Go down different roads, change your mind, rearrange your thoughts and thus your vision and how that would come to be expressed.
In a sense, you had no idea how it would turn out. But you allowed yourself to be led. Guided by your own inner compass. That piece of you that speaks only truth.
This poem could’ve turned out a million different ways. Also, like life. And each one would’ve been perfect and exactly what it was supposed to be. This was just one expression, from my heart to yours.
With so much love,
Rachel
