Feelings

Feel your feelings, feel them all the way through. And also remember, you’re not your feelings.

Thoughts and emotions arise and subside like the ocean’s breathing tide. 🌊

As this sort of ebb and flow exists all throughout the living world, so is it a pure and natural phenomenon that we as humans get to experience within our own inner terrain.

Be it the most elated feelings of happiness and exuberant passion for life, where you feel your best self is shining bright and you’re at ease;

Or be it when you feel sad, heavy, confused, the deepest shade of blue and it seems that your thoughts, your worries, just won’t let you rest;

Or anything in between…

Remember my love, you are not only a drop of water in the ocean, you are the ocean itself.

You have the capacity to hold all of life in your watchful, permeating embrace — all the while remaining flexible and liberated.

Because you see, it’s when we grasp onto our experiences of life — identifying with our thoughts and emotions — that we suffer. And though suffering is an inevitable aspect of this beautifully contrasted earthly life, we are not our experiences and we are not our emotions.

We are the one that witnesses our experiences and notices our thoughts and emotions. There exists a loving, neutral, non-interfering observer that to even label it as such things is missing the point.

Yes, our experiences and our emotions are absolutely valid. After all, we’re spirit incarnate having a human experience and to deny that in any way is also missing the point.

What the invitation is, is that when we’re experiencing high or deep emotions (and their accompanying thoughts and beliefs) that seem to pull us into their current and take us for a ride, may we find a moment to pause and rest in our awareness.

Feel your feelings. Feel them all the way through. Gift yourself your precious time, energy, and attention as what’s arising within makes itself known to you because it is ready to be released. And it’s released, or dissolved, through your loving attention.

When I’m feeling something deep and am moved to cry or release that energy in some way, I place my hand on my heart, or bow my head and I give in to the sensations in my body.

I watch the stories that accompany the feeling — “I should’ve done this thing differently,” or “it hurts so bad that that happened to me”, or whatever thoughts or stories play in my mind — I simply watch them float by.

I’m the one sitting in the boat, watching and feeling the movement of the waves — not diving into the water and getting tossed around.

The stories aren’t what’s important now, because my love NOW is the only thing that’s real.

And how we choose to respond rather than react to what is arising NOW — which is simply a felt sense in the body that’s ready to move — sets the tone for how we move forward in our lives…remembering in deeper and deeper ways how whole and complete we’ve been this entire time.

Another beautiful perspective is to recognize what a blessing it is to get to watch these feelings and emotions arising within you, because it actually signifies that you’re being is ready to expand.

You’re ready to expand, and this movement of energy is your body’s way of helping you do that. Isn’t that wonderful? 🌸

Infinite love,

Rach
